Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarships (Class A & B, only available to degree program applicants) can be applied in this semester.
1. SCHOLARSHIP FEATURES:
Class A: Available only for graduate programs. Covers tuition fee and accommodation fee during the regular years of study, and provides a fee of the insurance against serious diseases and accidents. Besides, the scholarship of living cost is given out every month, to M.D. students RMB 3000 per month, and to Ph.D. students RMB 3500 per month.
Class B: Available both for undergraduate and graduate programs. Covers tuition fee during the regular years of study and fee of the insurance against serious diseases and accidents.
2. APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 15.
3. QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be foreign nationals and in good health.
Applicants for doctorate studies should have obtained a master’s degree and not be older than 40 with good Chinese proficiency which meets the requirements of degree program; applicants for master’s studies should have obtained a bachelor’s degree and not be older than 35 with good Chinese proficiency which meets the requirements of degree program; applicants for bachelor’s studies should be a high school graduate and not older than 25 with good Chinese proficiency which meets the requirements of degree program.
Applicants should be diligent and hardworking with outstanding academic achievements and good attendance records.
The applicant should have no other scholarships.

l Copy of highest diploma: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with original notarized Chinese or English translations.
l Academic transcripts: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with original notarized Chinese or English translations.
l Photocopy of HSK certificate or Chinese proficiency certification.
l Personal statement, about 800 words, written in Chinese or in the language which meets the academic requirement of the program, including study and work experiences, research results and study plan. Your signature is a must.
l Two original Recommendation Letters from professors or associate professors for master’s applicants, two original Recommendation Letters from professors for doctoral applicants;
l Photocopy of passport.
l Copy of the voucher of remittance of the application fee.
5. APPLICATION FEE:
For bachelor applicants:
l Majors at Hongkou campus: Domestic transfer of 450 RMB or overseas transfer of 75 USD.
l Majors at Songjiang campus: Domestic transfer of 750 RMB or overseas transfer of 125 USD.
l For master and PhD applicants: Domestic transfer of 800 RMB or overseas transfer of 130 USD.
6. BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION
Application fee 800 RMB (or overseas transfer of 130 USD) is non-refundable, payable in cash or remittance (T/T). Checks are not acceptable. Wechat Pay or Ali pay is not acceptable. A remittance with student’s name must be made payable to:

Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, the field of study, or duration of study unless they give up the grant.
The scholarship will not be reserved if the scholarship recipient cannot register before the registration deadline.
