Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Language Research(1900-2020)

Language is closely related to human, social, and cultural development, and language research has been inextricably linked with many disciplines from the beginning.However, no systematic review has yet been reported on the development and changes of multidisciplinary language research.Based on the language research literature in the two top multidisciplinary academic journals Natureand Scienceover the past 120 years, this article offers a bibliometric analysis from multiple perspectives including the number of articles published over the years, countries/regions, institutions, authors, funds, keywords, citations, research content and discussed important articles that have attracted widespread attention.The study aims to systematically summarize how more than a century of multidisciplinary language research has evolved and distributed, so as to better understand its development patterns, potential problems and emerging trends and to promote modern language research.
