A Review on Language Policy and Planning Abroad

This article is a review on language policy and planning abroad.First, the basic concepts in this field are clarified, including the basic definitions, basic features and basic relationship; second, the origin and development of language policy and planning are discussed; third, the four types and the three research dimensions of language policy and planning are illustrated; last, the classical language policy and planning research framework and the typical journals are discussed.
