A Review of Studies of Retranslation Theories in China

  • Retranslation is a widespread phenomenon in the history of Chinese literary translation.Studies of retranslation theories in China, growing through debates, have already touched on key issues of translation studies and thus become a huge engine of disciplinary development.In this regard, it is self-evident that retranslation is of great importance and value to translation studies as a whole.The study of this field in China of exhibit three characteristics: first, it is "problem-driven"; second, retranslation studies based on traditional translation theories coexist with those enlightened by Western ones; third, it lacks "hypothesis-empirical research" pattern.But at the same time, it covers some research perspectives that are absent in retranslation studies in the West.
