Abstract:Based on the existing literature at home and abroad, this article attempts to probe into the interface studies between linguistics and politics. An analysis of taking which side as the perspectives, research purposes, disciplinary orientations, research methodology, linguistic researchers' advantages, etc.has yielded the following findings.Political linguistics was formed from the political turn in linguistics which contributes to the development of linguistics and needs to be considered as a branch of linguistics while linguistic politics was originated from the linguistic turn in politics which pays attention to the prosperity of politics and needs to be treated as a branch of politics. There are still apparent discrepancies in concepts, theories and methods in the study of political linguistics and linguistic politics although some of them can be shared by both disciplinaries.Nevertheless, linguists can play a key role in the interface studies between linguistics and politics.
