Abstract:This paper is intended to discuss the issues raised in Jin Lixin's recent article appearing in Journal of Foreign Languagesas to whether there are logical problems with the "Noun-verb Inclusion" hypothesis.It is mainly concerned with whether the true nature of Chinese can be accounted for in terms of the "Separation of A and B" pattern and the logical syllogism advocated by the Western logicians, and whether the "Noun-verb Inclusion" hypothesis violates the logical axiom and the inference rules cherished by the logical syllogism.It aims to clarify some misinterpretations and presents the author's position as well.
