From Traditional to Modern—On the Concept, Methodology and Tasks of Descriptive Translation Criticism

摘要:相比于传统翻译批评，描写性翻译批评追求的是对数据或事实分析过程中的客观和理性呈现，其目标主要是发现翻译作为过程、产品和功能在目标语言文化中的运作规律。本文在论述传统翻译批评的本质和功能的基础上，探索了当代翻译批评的描写性和科学性，并对翻译批评的解读和解释性本质进行策略性建构。文章阐明翻译批评从传统到现代的转换过程就是从保守的规定主义走向开放的描写主义的过程。

Abstract:In comparison with traditional translation criticism, descriptive translation criticism (DTC) has launched a pursuit of reason and objectivity in the analysis of data and facts, aiming to discover the operational laws that govern translation as process, product and function.This paper, based on a review of the essence and function of the traditional criticism, explores the descriptive and scientific aspects of DTC, providing a strategic construction of the interpretative and explanatory aspects of it.It concludes that the transformation from the traditional to modern criticism is one from the conservative prescriptivism towards the open descriptivism.
