Abstract:Chomsky's (2013, 2014, 2015) three theses mainly analyze the core syntactic properties of labels and further illustrate its application in the generative grammar study.These theses not only systematically solve the theoretical problem regarding how a merged category obtains its label, but exhibit the theoretical creativity and principled explanatory force of the Label Theory and the Labeling Algorithm, which will surely impose great influence on the development of syntactic theories.The authors hold that these works contribute greatly to the Labeling Theory and are of much theory-instructing significance to the Minimalist Program and its syntactic research.
