Abstract:Context is one of the most important and complicated notions of linguistics.According to its basic views and basic assumptions, cognitive linguistics attaches great importance to context in its linguistic analysis.This paper, from the perspectives of prototype, metaphor and metonymy and constructional meaning, explores the functions of context in cognitive linguistics.
