Abstract:Our photos taken at various supermarkets show that all household electric fans resort to more than one nonverbal metaphor in speed marking.Production and interpretation of metaphors are based upon universal human experience whose coherence and causal relations ensure the coherence among metaphors, which, in turn, facilitate the interpretation of metaphors by taking each other as reference point.But some designers and producers neglect the experiential foundation of metaphors and coherence there involved, rendering the interpretation of metaphors a tough job.
